June 2005
Bush signs bill...
Here is some great news if you have been following Bill 1090:
Governor Jeb Bush signing
Senate Bill 1090 into law thereby creating safeguards for parents in
Florida from being coerced to put their children on dangerous
psychotropic drugs or from being psychologically evaluated. Thanks to
the courageous efforts of Senators Skip Campbell and Victor Crist and
Representative Gus Barreiro, the urgent problem of the over-drugging of
children with psychotropic drugs was brought to the forefront of the
Florida Legislature and heard throughout the country.
Hospice of the Florida Suncoast offers support group...
Here is the information on the next suicide survivors group a 6 week
course I highly recommend to anyone who has lost a love one to suicide.
Upon graduation you can join our on going suicide survivors group that
is a once a month meeting.
On six Tuesday evenings, June 7 through July 12, The
Hospice of the Florida Suncoast will offer suicide bereavement support
groups for adults who have lost someone to suicide. These support
sessions provide a safe place to share your feelings and experience of
loss. Counselors who are specially trained in suicide bereavement will
conduct the meetings. They guide you through the grief process and offer
ways to help you cope with the suicide of a friend or loved one.
Sessions are held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Hospice of the Florida
Suncoast, 300 East Bay Drive, in Largo. Out of respect for the group
process we cannot admit new members to support groups after the second
session.

For more information and to register, please contact Bridges at The
Hospice, at (727) 586-4432, ext. 2812.
If you can't make the meeting and would like to help we are looking
for sponsors to help cover the expense of t-shirts and our plastic
candle holders. If your company or you and your friends would like to
contribute, please contact me. I would love to see this event reach out
to survivors in the Tampa Bay area. With 177 people who died by suicide
last year in Pinellas County alone I know I am not the Lone Ranger. I
refuse to be ashamed of my son death. I refuse to shut up about this
epidemic that is taking our loved ones lives. Depression is a killer and
will remain so till we stand together and our voices are heard.
Blessings to all
